Reading a map: where to actually build your towers
The most common mistake in tower defence is spreading your towers evenly across the map. It feels safe, but it wastes your damage. The better habit is to find the choke point, the spot every enemy must pass, and stack your firepower there.
Look for narrow corridors, sharp turns, and long straight paths near the exit. Corners are gold because enemies slow slightly and cluster, letting splash towers hit several at once. A long straight stretch means anything you place has more seconds to fire before the enemy escapes.
Before wave one starts, trace the path with your finger. Ask yourself where the enemies bunch up and where you get the most shots per target. That single stretch is where your best towers belong, and everything else is support.
I also keep one small reserve of cash for the first surprise wave. Almost every game throws a faster or armoured type early to punish players who spent everything. Holding a little back saves runs.
