Ironhold Siege
Ironhold Siege asks you to run a fortress under near-constant threat. You place walls, assign workers, and route your soldiers to whichever gate is about to break. The clever part is that resources are always tight, so you can never fully defend everything and have to guess where the next attack lands.
We found the pacing excellent. Early rounds are gentle enough to learn the placement rules, then the game starts throwing mixed enemy types that demand different defences at once. Managing that split attention on a phone screen is genuinely tense in a good way.
There's a slower campaign for people who like planning and a faster skirmish mode for quick sessions. Both feel fair. The tutorial could explain the upgrade tree better, but once you figure it out the depth is real.
What we liked
- Meaningful resource pressure
- Enemy variety keeps you thinking
- Works in short or long sessions
